Medical Records Technician – Temporary Position

This opportunity requires at least 6 months of related administrative experience and some physical requirements which include, lifting 25 to 50 lbs, and reaching high shelves.   • Degree/Education: High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalency
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months relevant experience within the past year in a healthcare environment OR specialized Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification OR Registered Health Information Administrator certification.
  • Physical Requirement: Must be able to carry 25-50 pounds and reach high shelving units with the assistance of step ladders to retrieve medical records. Prolonged walking, standing, sitting, or bending.
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Skills: Ability to read, write, understand, and speak English fluently to effectively communicate with all patients and other healthcare providers. Must be able to type on a computer keyboard at General medical ethics, telephone etiquette, and excellent communication, concentration skills and customer service skills.

The duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Initiates and maintains medical records in accordance with prescribed
  • File original medical documentation in the patient’s medical record and copies of medical documentation into research files as necessary.
  • Abstract, print, upload and scan original medical documents into AHLTA/HAIMS and verify images and documents are scanned correctly and legibly into the appropriate record with no more than three deficiencies
  • Perform Quality Assurance checks on all release of information requests prior to release, to include the electronic medical records IA W regulatory guidance with zero deficiencies.
  • Purge medical records upon request IAWAR 40-66 and other DHA and service specific policy and guidance.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance to subordinates on proper management and safeguards of medical
  • Maintain security of all VIP special handling records in accordance with regulations and standard operational
  • Maintain all patients’ records both electronic and paper according to regulations insuring each entry contains proper patient and health care provider information.
  • Forward outpatient laboratory, radiology, and other documentation to their respective outpatient medical record in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Conducts daily pull, delivery and retrieval of patient
  • Searches for missing paperwork or Requests information pertaining to patient treatment to place in the medical record.
  • Prepares reports regarding record statistics as Participates in records review as part of the facility’s quality assurance program and in accordance with accreditation standards.
  • Reviews records to ensure proper and complete
  • Retires medical records in accordance with regulatory
  • Report to work rested and fully physically and mentally capable of performing the duties required under this contract.
Monday – Friday, 8 working hours between the hours of 0600-1730
