Qualifications

  • Degree: Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.).
  • Education: Graduate from an accredited medical school in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) at the time the degree was obtained.
  • Certification: Current certification as a Family Medicine Physician by the American board of Family Medicine. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • Experience: 24 months of experience within the last 36 months in Family Medicine.
  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Family Practice Physician.
  • Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an internship and residency program which has been approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or the Committee on Postdoctoral Training of the American Osteopathic Association. Subsequent to obtaining a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree, must have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting (i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training).

Duties

  • Evaluation and treatment of emergent, urgent, and non-emergent patients ranging in age as young as newborns to over 65 years. Workload is a result of scheduled appointments, walk-ins to the clinic from the Emergency Department, walk-ins for specific diagnoses and telephone calls, and consults (such as pre-op). The Physician will be required to consult with specialty physicians for consultative opinions and continuation of care. Productivity is expected to be comparable to that of the other civilian and military Physicians assigned to the same facility/similar facilities and authorized the same scope of practice. The Physician will be assigned an empanelment of approximately 1,250 patients. The Physician shall meet the Air Force Medical Operations Agency (AFMOA) standard of 100 appointments per week: 80 face to face and 20 virtual.
  • Direct, perform, or assist in the instruction of other health care professionals within the scope of the clinical privileges or responsibilities.
  • Examine, diagnose, treat, or prescribe courses of treatment within the scope of training, experience, and privileges.
  • Provide preventive and health maintenance care, including annual physicals, positive health behaviors, and self-care skills through education and counseling.
  • Order diagnostic tests as applicable as well as request consultation or referral with appropriate physicians, clinics, or other health resources as indicated.
  • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Perform peer review of a minimum of 10 routine cases per month
  • Perform an average of 15 Performance Health Assessments (PHA) per month
  • Perform an average of 5 Medical Evaluation Boards (MEB) per month
  • Perform an average of 10 deployment clearances per month
