Degree: Master’s degree in nursing
Education: Graduate from an academic program, within the nursing specialty field of study that isaccredited by a regional or national nursing accrediting agency recognized by the AccreditationCommission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the commission on Collegiate Nursing Education(CCNE).
Certification: Certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the AmericanNurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or therecognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate (forexample, National Certification Board of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and Nurses, American NursesAssociation, National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Specialties).
Experience: One year experience in the past two years in the evaluation and treatment of patients whohave pain, psychological factors affecting their physical condition, or difficulty coping with medicalproblems.
Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse
Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and become proficient in the useof the following computer systems: Composite Health Care Systems (CHCS) – Armed ForcesHealth Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA), Aeromedical Services InformationManagement System (ASIMS), and Preventive Health Assessment and Individual MedicalReadiness (PIMR).
The duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Perform deployment related health assessment and annual mental health assessment services that complywith applicable Department of Defense and Air Force policy and guidance, to include required standards ofcare and clinical practice guidelines.
- Provide a full range of outcome-based nurse practitioner services in accordance with privileges granted bythe MTF (e.g., supervise and provide general screening and medical care and examinations of patients forroutine, acute and chronic conditions involving any and all organ systems; provide immunizations;diagnose, treat, and counsel patients as indicated).
- Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate ininservice training to staff members.
- Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma withinaccepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with aphysician.
- Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors andself-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
- Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcareteam of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
- Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patientencounters.
- Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.
